When it comes to confidence, watching others who mastered it, is definitely a good idea to improve yourself. And we can't talk about self-confidence, without mention the Terminator.

His top ten films according to the IMDb votes

Arnold Schwarzenegger was born in 1947 in the small village Thal, Austria. At a very young age he started football, but at age fifteen he began bodybuilding at a local gym. Arnie started to become famous from Mr. Olympia titles who won continuously from 1970 to 1975 and then again in 1980.

He is also a leading cinematic star in action and adventure films. Surely the movies "Conan The Barbarian", "The Terminator", "Commando", "Predator" and so many others he starred are very famous and people still see them today with the same impression we had when we first saw them.

Wise words from Arnie. I've seen a lot of motivational videos, but this is in my top 5 inspirational videos.

Arnie was one of the heroes of my childhood. Every movie I watched (many times I saw it along with my childhood friends), me and my friends were imagine ourselves as another hero who would save the day while we were discussing their feats for hours (in the 80s and 90s you did not have much stuff to do cough to alienate you - Facebook cough). Seeing Arnie on the screen, we saw what we dreamed of, such as self-confidence, courage and a huge and a powerful body.

Who looks more comfortable?

Arnie is very confident and we can learn from him. When he wanted to do something, he just did not listen to the others. I remember somewhere saying that when he said he would become a leading Body-builder, everyone laughed and they said it was impossible. And he became. When he decided to be an actor, everyone told him that it was impossible to do it. And he became. When he said that he would marry a Kennedy, everyone laughed. And he did it. When he said he would become a senator, no one laughed again...

Although for me Lou Ferrigno was as big as Arnie, Arnie was more confident. When they start their presentation, watch how Arnie (0:37) enters and how comfortable he is. He owns the scene.

The truth is that Body Building would not be the same if there was not Arnie, who also built the image of the action hero and showed how a "hero" should be. If you are old enough, you may remember how many "heroes" there were back then and how many young boys had them as role models (today we have... Conchita for a role model, the next generation will grow very differently but this is out of the scope of this post).

I'm sure most of those who wanted to build their bodies, they had a poster of Arnie somewhere on their wall/wardrobe, as one of my childhood friends had.

Behind the icon of the macho man, you see a man who knows very well what he says and we can certainly learn a lot from him.

Self-confidence is something caught and not taught. And, risk-running and chance-taking are the only ways to catch it. ~ Arnold Schwarzenegger

The most important thing that Arnie teach you is to have confidence. We all know that women love men with self-confidence, those who believe in themselves, and men who have confidence always stand out and have women's admiration. Below we will analyze some of his pieces of advice.

Trust yourself. Who do you want to become?

Growing up we receive messages about who we should be. From our parents who want us to become doctors or lawyers, or the teachers who somehow advise you what you should be doing in your life. But what matters is what YOU want to become.

You see most people simply follow the rules of society, do what others want them to do and leave aside their own dreams. Focus on your dreams and do not let others influence your decisions.

Break the rules, not the law but the rules

There are so many rules in our lives that can make you crazy. Rules about how we should behave, who we must be and what to do in our lives, are just a few. Arnie points out that you cannot be authentic if you always follow the rules. And by this, I don't mean to break or disobey the law.

Do not be afraid to fail

Failure is an important part of life. Whatever you want to do in your life. Arnie says that if you continue to push yourself and believe in you, you will be able to overcome your fear of failure that exists in everyone's minds. Is the fear that holding you back and does not let you be free. By learning to deal with your fears, you will be able to continue and do whatever you want.

Ignore negative people

Ignore the negative people who say "you can not do this, you can not do that". Arnie says to don't listen to negative people, those who say something can not or never have been done by someone. He says he never hears someone who tells him "you can not do it", but instead he says to himself "I can do it." When we want to do something and we ask someone's opinion, we accept his answer either as a matter of fact and just do not do what we wanted to (maybe because we did not want to do it in the first place), or we forget his opinion and do whatever we want. It's always our choice to let them stop us from our goals or not.

Work hard

When they asked Muhammad Ali how many sit-ups he can do, he said, "I don't count my sit-ups; I only start counting when it starts hurting because they’re the only ones that count." We always get scared of the hard work we have to do when we want to improve something on ourselves, but it can not be done otherwise. And if you don't get hurt, you will not improve yourself and Arnie knows it very well.
